Smart Metering's team consists of hardware and firmware experts. We design and manufacture our own smart metering IoT hardware with the latest advancements in low-power wireless data technologies. Where existing field-proven smart metering hardware is available, we will integrate this hardware into our smart monitoring and billing platforms.
Water Meters
Generally, existing apartment or resident water meters are available with a pulse output. We can connect the existing mechanical water meter pulse output to our Smart Metering battery-operated wireless IoT reader, saving the extra costs and time of replacing the existing water meter.
When on daily reads, our IoT pulse units have a battery life of 12 to 14 years before the battery needs replacing.
We connect the water meter pulse output to our smart IoT device to automatically read the daily total water consumption of the unit. The meter reading data is sent wirelessly to our secure cloud server, accessible via your unique web portal link.
Our Smart Metering pulse unit will retrofit all major brands of existing mechanical water meters to upgrade them to smart water meters, such as Elster, Honeywell, Zenner, Sensus, Allmess and others.
Electric Meters
If there is an existing power meter in a unit, our power monitoring devices can connect to this existing power meter from its pulse or Modbus output, which eliminates the need to replace the existing power meter.
Our smart power monitoring devices will send daily power consumption wirelessly to the smart metering cloud-based platform for easy monitoring and billing from the central office.
Our Smart Metering pulse unit will retrofit all major existing electric power meter brands to upgrade them to smart meters capable of sending daily power consumption to our online platform. Power sub-meters we have integrated include the Schneider iEM2100 range of single-phase DIN rail-mounted power meters, the Eastron SDM single-phase range, the Metec single-phase range, and others.
B METERS Wireless Upgrade
The B METERS GSD8-RFM is a widely installed apartment water sub-meter, fitted in many buildings to meter cold and hot water into each apartment. Many of these meters have been fitted with a short-range wireless M-Bus comms module. These still require an authorised person to go out to site to download meter data. Smart Metering has retrofitted many apartments carrying these meters with the latest B METERS LoRaWAN comms module, which sends remote daily meter reads to our data aggregation and invoicing servers.
With this upgrade, we take them from simple mechanical meters to smart meters which can be remotely configured to adjust the frequency of the meter reads.

Connected Electric Meters
Smart Metering supports the latest single and three phase smart connected power meters into our data aggregation and billing servers.
The SDM230-LoRa not only measures and displays the characteristics of single phase two wire (1p2w) supplies, including kWh, kVArh, kW, kVAr, kVA, PF, frequency, voltage, current and demand, but additionally transmits the total power consumption data wirelessly to the Smart Metering platform.
It supports maximum 100A direct connection. These power meters have a built-in LoRaWAN comms module which allows long range wireless communication.
12 Input Pulse / GPIO / Temperature / Humidity
Smart Metering's exclusive design 12 variable input IoT device.
Each input can be configured as a pulse, GPIO, temperature or humidity sensor.
The device's main application is an affordable way to send remote daily readings to cloud-based systems from DIN rail-mounted electric meters, which are generally installed in service ducts. The hardware and opex costs are therefore split by up to 12 meters, with remote daily water or power reads as low as AUD $1 per month per apartment on a fixed-term contract.
